Makerere University Business School (MUBS) edged Muteesa Royal 1-0 in the Pepsi University Football League at the MUBS play ground on Friday evening.
Mbabazi Joe Worrick scored the only goal of the game to give the hosts their first win of the campaign.
The first ten (10) minutes of the game kicked off with MUBS match with possession but Muteesa Royal managed to press well and win the ball high up the pitch before attacking the hosts’ defence.
Muteesa’s Sserugo Geoffrey took the ball down the right side of the penalty area only to pull it back for Mubiru Ibrahim but MUBS’ Atekega Marvin managed to clear.
After ten minutes, Sserugo once again managed to get in behind to shrug off pressure from his marker before pulling off a good cross only for Hillary Ayebale to rush out and rescues the situation.
With 28 minutes on the clock, MuteesaI Royal were really enjoying themselves playing some free-flowing football Ibrahim Mubiru nearly breaking the deadlock with a drilled shot from the edge of the box for only the ball to go wide.
Over the half hour mark, the visitors who looked so comfortable and in search of an opener but MUBS’ stole the ball three minutes to half time Ssekumba intercepted the ball for a beautiful take to deliver a cross which was headed goalwards by Magumba Stuart to bring Muteesa‘s Conrad Kamukama in action
Into the second half, Nazar Benjamin slide a clever pass across the face of the Muteesa Royal’s penalty area ten minutes after restart to find Magumba in space, but a defender got to him before he could pull the trigger.
At the hour mark, the hosts shot stopper Ayebale managed to pull off another great save to deny Busulwa Patrick the breakthrough and keeping the score level.
However MUBS were awarded a penalty five minutes later as Kakeeto brought down substitute Benjamin Nazar in the box
Mbabazi Joe Worrick after a few seconds made no mistake from the spot to give the hosts the lead.
With a number of MUBS fans Chanting beautiful football no point, Muteesa substitute Juma Kintu came into the fray and managed a shot towards goal but the Ayebare was well positioned to make a save only to seal the 1-0 win.
This victory keeps MUBS top of Group F with 4 points with eyes set on their next game at home to MUST.
