Muteesa 1 Royal University comfortably humbled Mbarara University of Science and Technology 3-0  at the Muteesa 1 Royal campus in Masaka on Thursday evening.

Muteesa’s goals were scored by Sserugo Geoffrey, Bbale Francis in the opening half and Ibrahim Mubiru in second

Sserugo scored Muteesa’s first ever goal of the Pepsi University Football League with a thunderous strike to enter the record books of the University just 33 minutes into the game.

At the half hour mark, Bbale Francis doubled the lead for the hosts with a powerful header off Ali Lutwama’s free-kick to close the opening half 2-0.

In the second half, the George William Ssengabi’s coached side managed to seal the win two minutes left on the clock, Mubiru punching in the final nail into Mbarara as he tapped home Busuulwa’s cross to give the Royal Lions fans happiness for their third.

This victory saw Muteesa go up to second position in Group F with three points, one off leaders MUBS with MUST sinking bottom.

Tomorrow (Friday 18th October) will see Group C action as Kabale University welcome UCU in Kabale at 3pm
