After winning the toss, Tornado Cricket Club, led by coach Mukaya Sharma Uzama, opted to bat first.
The team, captained by Ayo Daniella, managed only 59/4 in their 20 overs, with Esther Ariokot standing out by scoring 36 off 66 balls, remaining not out.
Olila had no trouble in their chase, reaching the target by the 11th over and securing an 8-wicket victory.
In the afternoon game, Olila’s Vice-Captain Akurut Asumin won the toss and chose to bat first.
However, the pitch proved challenging, and Olila found themselves at 23/4 by the end of the power play.
Nandera Immaculate’s standout performance, scoring 35 off 30 balls, helped recover the innings.
Apio Blessing Noeline bowled impressively for Tornado, taking 3 wickets for just 12 runs in her 3-over spell.
Olila set a total of 109/9 in their 20 overs and successfully defended it, with Tornado falling short by 68 runs.
Olila, the 2016 champions, remain unbeaten this season.
Their victory guarantees them the top spot in Group B and a semifinal slot, where they are going to face Jinja SS.
In other matches, Wanderers Cricket Club secured double victories against Pioneer Cricket Club.
Naomi Kayondo (65) shone in the afternoon, while youngster Gringish Nabulime (53) dominated the morning match.
These wins bolster Wanderers’ semifinal hopes in Group B, needing just one more win against Tornado Cricket Club in the final group stage fixtures.
Jinja SS collected maximum points against ACC at Gayaza High School Oval.
Consy Aweko scored a half-century (50) in the morning game, but Jinja SS’s batting was too strong, quickly surpassing the total.
In the afternoon, ACC put up a fight, with Sarah Walaza’s unbeaten 66 going in vain, as Susan Kakai’s 54 ensured Jinja SS’s narrow 5-run victory.
This result narrows the gap between Jinja SS and Group A leaders Soroti City to just one point.
Tornado Bee earned maximum points away against JACC.
Despite resistance from JACC in the morning, with Immaculate Nakisuyi narrowly missing a half-century by just three runs, Tornado Bees found the afternoon easier due to Immaculate’s absentia.
The experienced visitors outclassed the JACC youngsters, with Teddy Ayella starring in the morning and Victoria Pearls all-rounder Patricia Malemikia earning the player of the match in the afternoon.
