Every football fan will claim their club is the biggest in Uganda but how is the size of a club truly measured?
Is it based on glory or history? Or it based on the current form? Or perhaps is it the crowds that watch the games?
Well, social media is one of the ways of ranking the most supported clubs in Uganda. Being popular on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and more social media platforms is a big part of modern football across the globe.
Below is an insight into the top 5 clubs with a huge following on their Social media platforms;
5) SC VILLA

The 16 times Uganda premier league Champions have a huge following on social media mainly because of their history and past glory. They have 14.4K followers on Twitter and 31K on Facebook making it to a total of 45.7K on the two social media platforms.
4) Onduparaka FC

Onduparaka FC is one of Uganda’s fastest-growing football clubs over the past 5 years and has a total of 53.3K followers on social media. This is divided into 16.3K and 36K between their official twitter and Facebook pages respectively.
3) Express FC

The Mukwano gw’abangi, as they are nicknamed have a total following of 67.8K fans with 15.8K on twitter and over 52K on their facebook page.
2) Vipers SC

The venoms are among the most supported club basing on social media following and have a total of 68K followers with 22K on Twitter and 48K on their Facebook page.
The huge following is mainly due to the successes of the club in the last 10 years with 3 league titles in that period.
1)KCCA FC

The Kampala giants who are the current league champions are the most followed Ugandan club on social media with a whopping 112.2K followers divided between 30.2K on Twitter and 82K on Facebook.
This is largely due to their history and successes both in the CAF tournament and the home league.
The Kassasiro Boys as they are nicknamed made the group stages of the CAF champions league in 2018 and have won 13 league titles in their football history.
