Nkumba Volleyball Club secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Ndejje Volleyball Club in a fiercely contested Uganda Derby at the ongoing CAVB Zone V Championship in the women’s category.

The match, played at Old Kampala Court, was an intense showdown, with both teams pushing each other to the limit. Despite Ndejje’s relentless fight, Nkumba held their nerve to maintain their unbeaten run in Group A, while Ndejje remains winless in the tournament.

The highly anticipated encounter lived up to expectations, treating fans to an electrifying display of volleyball.

Nkumba drew first blood, edging a tightly contested first set 25-23. Ndejje, however, responded with renewed intensity in the second set, surging to an early 6-1 lead and extending it to 8-1. Despite Nkumba’s efforts to break their rhythm, Ndejje stayed composed and leveled the match by taking the set 25-20.

The momentum remained with Ndejje in the third set, as they dominated 16-8 before sealing it 25-15, putting them just one set away from victory.

Refusing to back down, Nkumba regrouped in the fourth set, showcasing remarkable resilience. They weathered the pressure and turned the tide, securing a 25-22 win to force a decisive fifth set.

The final set was a dramatic affair, with both teams battling point for point. Nkumba, however, held their ground, fending off Ndejje’s late push to clinch the 15-10 victory and wrap up the match 3-2.

Nkumba Stays Unbeaten, Ndejje Seeks Redemption

With this win, Nkumba remains unbeaten in Group A, strengthening their bid for a strong finish in the tournament. On the other hand, Ndejje, still searching for their first victory, will need to regroup and bounce back in their upcoming fixtures.

This result follows contrasting fortunes for both teams on matchday one—Ndejje suffered a defeat to Kenya Pipeline, while Nkumba registered a win against Tanzania Prisons.
