A team of Seven (7) players and one Head coach was flagged for the Egypt para- badminton championships on Friday morning.
The eight man contingent was flagged off by National Council of sports’ Administrative Secretary James Kasumba.
The tournament event will be starting on the 23rd to 28th of January in Cairo.
According to Uganda badminton association CEO Simon Mugabe, the Egypt event is important to players as they are looking for points that will take them to 2024 para- Olympics.
“We have invested in our players for the past two years and now it’s time for them to make us proud,” Mugabi noted
“The aim is to collect points that will help the team qualify for the 2024 Para Olympics”
One of the players Sarah Nazziwa says that they have had enough training that will enable them to perform very well in Egypt.
“We have been training hard and well and I believe this will help us perform well”
“Personally have been training at Mbogo before the collective training but I gained great endurance ” she concluded

The Egypt event will be the second last event before the Thailand event where the players will be gathering their points.
