The atmosphere inside Lugogo’s Indoor Arena wasn’t as noisy due to few numbers, and the reigning National Basketball League champions, City Oilers, found themselves in unfamiliar territory, on the losing end for the second game in a row.

The JT Jaguars, fueled by sheer determination and precision, delivered a 74-64 upset, leaving the ten-time champions searching for answers.

From the opening tip-off, the Jaguars made their intentions clear. They struck first, setting the tempo with an 18-14 lead in the first quarter.

The Oilers, known for their resilience, tried to claw their way back, but the Jaguars held firm, maintaining a narrow 36-34 advantage at halftime.

The battle intensified in the third quarter as the Oilers pressed hard to turn the tide, but the Jaguars refused to back down.

By the time the buzzer sounded for the third period, the Jaguars had extended their lead to 54-48, setting the stage for a high-stakes final quarter.

Rogers Dauna led the charge for the Oilers with 16 points, while Joseph Chuma and Edgar Munaaba contributed 12 each. But their efforts were not enough to outshine the Jaguars’ firepower.

Elijah Adakun led his team with 14 points, while Fadhili Chuma and Were Mark each added 11, ensuring the Jaguars held their ground until the final whistle.

Earlier in the evening, the UCU Lady Canons set the tone for the night with a dominant performance against the KIU Rangers. Millicent Otieno put up 15 points, steering the Lady Canons to victory in the women’s fixture.
