Youngsters Travis Mutyaba and Farouk Tumwesigye’s excellent performances have continued to yield more fruits for them as the two got nominated for the Airtel FUFA Futsal best player of the year award.
The two were nominated alongside Mengo’s skipper Najib Muwonge.
This was revealed in a press briefing held at FUFA House, Mengo on Wednesday morning.
Both Tumwesigye and Mutyaba were instrumental for Big Talent SA and Synergy FC respectively in the past season.
Tumwesigye finished the season with 10 goals and also guided Big Talent to second place finish while Mutyaba finished the season with 12 goals, three behind the league topscorer Billy Nkata ( KJT).
Another Nominee, Najib was Mengo FC best player as they finished third in the final standings, beating Synergy in the third-place placement match 4-1.
Apart from the Futsal nominees, three nominees in five other categories for the 2021 Airtel FUFA Award were also named during the briefing.
The other five categories are Coach of the Year, Women Football Coach of the Year, Beach Soccer Player of the Year, Member Associations’ Award and Fans Favorite Ugandan Foreign Based Player.
Both the Male and Female Player of the Year nominees were revealed earlier on at Stonehaven Restaurant.
Eric Kambale(Express), Yunus Sentamu (Vipers SC), Bobosi Byaruhanga (Vipers SC), Aziz Kayondo (Vipers SC) and Shafik Kagimu (URA) will fight for the Men’s Award.
While Margaret Kunihira (Kawempe Muslims), Joan Naggayi (She Maroons FC), Daisy Nakaziro (Lady Doves FC), Fauzia Najjemba ( Kampala Queens FC) and Fazila Ikwaput (Lady Doves FC) will contest for the Female Award
The Winners of the 13 Categories altogether will be announced at an Award ceremony at Speke Resort, Munyonyo on December 4th 2021.
