Duncan “Kikankane” Mubiru has broke a 20-year jinx to claim the National Rally Championship (NRC) title for the first time.
This is after he finished fourth in the MOSAC rally dubbed the “Sexy Speed Rally” in Jinja.
Mubiru needed just to finish up the Jinja rally no matter the position he picked up after his close competitor, Hassan Alwi withdrew from the sexy speed rally.
Alwi who was second on the NRC log standings opted to withdraw and take part in the African Rally Championship (ARC) organised in South Africa.
Although Mubiru won the NRC tittle, he couldn’t beat Ronald Ssebuguzi, Omar Mayanja and Fred Busulwa respectively to the podium finish of the sexy speed rally as he came fourth with a time of 1:40:7.
Ssebuguzi alongside his co-driver won the race with a winning time of 1:33:16 to beat off Mayanja and Hussein Mukuye who came second with 1:34:53 whereas Fred Busulwa and Joseph Bongole registered a time of 1:36:12 to finish third.
- “The experience I gained from the Safari rally strengthened me alot and I felt ready for the National Rally Championship tittle. It’s like am a out to retire.” Said Mubiru Said winning the rally championship.
