2023 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers: Davis notches double-double as Uganda edges Cape Verde

Barcelona forward Brandon Davis posted a double-double as Uganda overcame Cape Verde 77-74 on Saturday evening in a FIBA World Qualifier game played in Angola.

Davis finished the night with 27 points and 10 rebounds as Uganda claimed their first victory, having lost their opener to Mali.

Both teams struggled to get off the mark but Cape Verde took the first 14-12.

Uganda closed that gap to only 1 point at the break, with Robinson Opong scoring a 3 at the buzzer to keep Uganda in the game.

The third quarter was tied with both teams scoring 27 points.

Uganda took the fourth 19-15 to win the game by only three points.

Opong finished the game with 17 points while James Okello added 13 points from the bench for Uganda.

With one victory in two, The Silverbacks will return to action on Sunday against Nigeria.

Nigeria edged past Mali 72-70 also on Saturday.
