Vipers SC made an impressive start to their CECAFA Kagame Cup campaign with a commanding 3-0 victory over Djibouti’s FC Garde Républicaine.

Returning to the club, Faruk Miya marked his debut with a standout performance, scoring twice in the first half to put the Ugandan champions firmly in control. His opening goal came from a well-struck free kick in the 15th minute before he added a second after capitalizing on a defensive lapse from the visitors.

The Venoms continued to dominate and extended their lead just before halftime when Karim Watambala finished off a well-crafted move to make it 3-0.

Although FC Garde Républicaine created a few opportunities, including one following a mistake by Vipers goalkeeper Loyce Mbaba, they were unable to convert their chances.

In the second half, Vipers coach made several substitutions, bringing on experienced players including Yunus Sentamu, Milton Karisa and Glodi Beyuku to maintain the team’s intensity. Further changes later in the match allowed more squad members to get valuable minutes while preserving the comfortable lead.

The Djiboutian side attempted to respond in the closing stages, but Vipers remained organized defensively to secure a clean sheet and all three points.

The victory gives Vipers a strong start to their regional campaign and highlights the immediate impact of Miya, whose two-goal performance will boost confidence as the tournament progresses.
