Makerere University’s women’s football team had reason to celebrate as two of their own Zainah Namuleme and Fred Ndaula clinched top honors in the Finance Trust Bank Women Super League for the month of April.

Their outstanding performances on the pitch and from the technical bench have not only brought pride to the university but also set a benchmark for excellence in Ugandan women’s football.

Zainah Namuleme: April’s Finest Player

Zainah Namuleme emerged as the Best Player of the Month after a stellar run that saw her net six goals in just three games. Her clinical finishing and consistency earned her a Player of the Month accolade, outperforming other notable contenders such as She Corporate’s Jessica Namanda, who scored five goals, and Kawempe Muslim’s Agnes Nabukenya, who scored three.

Namuleme’s achievement highlights her growing influence in the league and reaffirms her as a rising star in Ugandan football. Her performances not only contributed crucial points for Makerere University but also demonstrated the effectiveness of her teamwork and individual brilliance.

Fred Ndawula: Tactical Brilliance Recognized

Makerere’s head coach, Fred Ndawula, was named April’s Best Coach in the Women Super League.

His ability to steer the team through a successful month with tactical precision and motivational leadership earned him the prestigious award.

Ndaula edged out stiff competition from Kawempe Muslim’s Ayub Khalifa and Kampala Queens’ Ethiopian tactician Firew Asefa Hailegebral.

Ndaula’s recognition underscores the importance of strategic guidance in the success of any football team, especially in a highly competitive league like the Women Super League.

Elite League Honors: Rising Stars Recognized

In the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Elite League, teenage striker Faith Akol of Gold Star Ladies stood out with six goals and one Player of the Month accolade, making her April’s Best Player.

Akoyi beat out Kawempe’s Hope Belinda Nabawanuka and Asubo Ladies forward Miriam Ayoo for the honor.

On the technical side, St. Noa Girls’ coach Jimmy Kintu Mwera was named Coach of the Month after leading his team to three wins and one draw in four matches. His effective management and ability to consistently deliver results made him the clear choice for the award.
