Lukwago helps St. George win their first league title in 5 years

St. George SC are the newly confirmed Ethiopian Premier League champions.

This is after they defeated Addis Ababa City 4-0 on the final day of the 2021/22 season to lift their 15th league title in history

Amanuel Gebremichael (2) and Ismaïl Ouro-Agoro (2) were the scorers of the four goals to help St. George clinch their first title since 2016/17 season.

Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Charles Lukwago was instrumental in St. George’s title winning campaign.

Lukwago joined St. George at the start of the season after leaving Uganda’s KCCA and subsequently became an integral part for the the Horsemen.

He has kept 19 clean sheets and conceded only 9 goals across 27 games in his debut season.

St. George finish the league season on 65 points, four points clear of their nearest competition Fasil Kenema.
