Uganda’s Men Basketball Team, The Silverbacks has been awarded free points at the ongoing second round of FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifiers in Kigali.

This is after their opponents on the day, Mali failed to show up at the Kigali Arena for their encounter against the Silverbacks on Friday afternoon.

Uganda wins the match with a margin of 20 points as per the competition rules.

According to some source, the reason for Mali’s no show is the team is apparently on a strike because of unpaid bonuses.

With the two free points, Uganda remain third in Group A with 6 points in four games.

Cape Verde and Nigeria are also on six points in four games. Cape Verde beat Nigeria 79-70 in the other group game earlier on.

Uganda will play Cape Verde next while Nigeria will be Mali.

The top 3 teams from this group after three rounds will advance to the second round of the African Qualifier.
