Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo announced his arrival at marathon running in style, finishing second behind Kenyan Sebastian Sawe to settle for Silver at the London Marathon.

Jacob Kiplimo runs towards the finish line at the London Marathon
Despite being a double world cross country champion, and Olympic and World medalist. Kiplimo still had a lot to prove, right to say he did. Behind him in third place was last year’s London Marathon winner Alexander Mutiso, Paris Olympics Champion Tamirat Tola and Kenyan Legend Eliud Kipchoge in fifth and sixth respectively.
Kiplimo crossed the finish line a minute and 11 seconds faster than Stephen Kissa did three years ago in the German city of Hamburg, setting a new national record.
This sweet Victory comes at the back of Kiplimo’s triumph in the Barcelona marathon where he smashed the half marathon world record which he also previously owned.
In the women’s marathon won by Ethiopian Tigst Assefa with a new world record, Uganda’s Stella Chesang finished sixth.
