The game had a number of big name players that were not seen by many in a while but remembered as those who helped the Club win its maiden trophies when it was still called Bunamwaya Football Club.

During the game, lots of whispers were heard as fans continued to echo statements like some of the players retired young.
With evidence of what was being exhibited by some of the Legends like Sulaiman Mutyaba and Tonny Odur, not many opinions differed from the statement.
According to Mubiru James, Vipers long term fan, he clarified my question (if Odur could still play for Vipers like some fans were whispering);
“Odur is so talented and still looks young so why not ?” He said
And added that; “I watched Odur at St Mary’s School through to Bunamwaya FC and his skill set was insane”
“Some days I would miss school just to watch him play so I know what am talking about” he concluded
On the day that still looked so young more was yet to come as Fans kept on coming to fill the premises of the Stadium with food and different drinks in their sight ready for consumption at arrival.
As the fans were filling stomachs and quenching their thirst out of the stadium, different artistes like Fik Gaza, Ykee Benda, Azawi, Chameleon and Gravity Omutujju were entertaining the biggest chunk of fans who included the St Mary’s School Kitende students and early fans.

Leading us into a very important session where a happy and grateful Dr Lawrence Mulindwa was called out by the master of Ceremony hence coming out to thank all the Club sponsors and also reveal the enlargement of St Mary’s Stadium;

Dr Lawrence Mulindwa talking to the Vipers SC fans.
“We want to expand our stadium to match international standards, and plans are already in place.” Mulindwa affirmed
Right after his speech, Dr Mulindwa appreciated a couple of people who have helped Vipers as a football to get to where it is like it’s sponsors, former head coach that brought the club to the top flight Richard Makumbi, Haruna Kyobe, one of the Club’s directors and St Mary’s School, Kitende (SMASK) with physical awards.

In the same juncture, all the new players of the Club that included returnee and former Club Captain Nicholas Wadada, Gusto Mulongo, Derrick Ndahiro and Pedro Honjo Chimbiambiulo alias Sukuya were unveiled just in hand with the other squad.

However what caught the ears of many was the absence of Yunus Ssentamu despite reading his name at the 2024/25 squad unveiling with reports that he’s yet to agree a new deal with the club.
The other notable absentees were Striker Eric Kenzo Kambale and left back Richard Matovu who are reportedly out of the country.
To sum up the day, fire works were put out to climax entertainment on the day as Vipers entered the pitch to face Police Football Club from Kenya.
The hosts beat Police 2-0 thanks to goals from debutants Kenneth Kimera and Gusto Mulongo in the different halfs of the game.
Vipers kicked off the game in fine style, Kimera scoring after a good assist to the left by the Club’s new number 10, Allan Okello, five minutes into the game.

However as the game continue the visitors arose and started creating more chances for a goal but their new signing Alfred Leku went on to miss two big chances in the opening half.
In the second half, Patrick Mbowa’s introduction changed it all as Vipers regained more control over the game and also introduce Ndahiro just like Wadada onto the pitch.
Later on in the half, Mulongo sealed the game with a 90th minute fine cool finish after an assist by Wadada who nicked the ball off the Police left back .

“A lot of positives have been taken from such a day, one of a kind and the top is the only way to go” as said by the Vipers fans.
