Uganda Rugby Women National Team, Lady Rugby Cranes managed to win the maiden edition of the Willem Strauss Invitational 7s tournament in South Africa on Sunday evening.
This was their first trophy in the 2024-25 international 7s season after beating home side South Africa 12-10 in the Final.
The 12 points were contributed as a team but scored by Lydia Namabiro and Unity Namulala, each with not forgetting Tina Akello who kicked up one conversion.
However 2024-25 calendar will officially open with the Safari 7s title defense from October 11-12 in Nairobi, Kenya and followed by a two-legged Rugby Africa Women’s 7s tournament where Uganda won bronze.
The tournament will be played on October 26-27 and November 2-3 in Tunisia in preparation for 2025 World Rugby HSBC 7s Challenger Series.
On the men,s side, the valiant eight (8) commandos as they were labeled finished third at the inaugural Willem Straus 7s tournament.
This happened after their final game which they won 40-07 victory over South Africa All Stars
