Kyeyune’s screamer salvages point for URA FC


Saidi Kyeyune scored a block buster goal in the 73rd minute as URA FC came from a goal down to salvage a point in a 1-1 draw against Kyetume FC at the Mighty Arena,Jinja in the Startimes Uganda Premier league.

Veteran striker Robert Ssentongo put the hosts ahead in the 3rd minute of the game when he netted from the spot after Patrick Mbowa had handled the ball in the forbidden area.

Kyetume’s discipline in the backline helped them keep out URA FC from seeing the back of their net as half time went into the break with a 1-0 Kyetume lead.

Joel Mutakubwa stood tall in his goal as he denied substitute Michael Birungi a clear scoring opportunity early in the second half. He also paved away Mikidad Ssenyonga’s effort in the 60th minute to keep Kyetume in the lead.

Saidi Kyeyune levelled matters for URA FC in the 73rd minute after his sublime screamer swingled  past Joel Mutakubwa to find the back of net, off a through ball from captain Shafick Kagimu. Kyeyune’s superb effort left the goal net torn which forced the game into a 5 minute break as the referees tried to fix it.

URA FC tried hard find the winner  but the slaughterers kept their defensive discipline  high until the end of the game to  force a 1-all draw.

URA FC remain unbeaten in the second round of the league maintaining the 4th place with 34 points.

Kyetume who managed a point off on-form URA FC move out of the relegation zone to the 13th place with 23 points as they are replaced by Police FC in the 14 position on 22 points.

URA’s next fixture will come in the Uganda cup round of 32 tie against Nyamityobora as Kyetume will play hosts to Kigezi home boys in the Uganda cup.
