Uganda Cranes stars Mustafa Kizza and Allan Okello have called on football fans to turn up in large numbers for the Mike Mutebi Charity Match, set for Thursday, July 9 at MTN Omondi Stadium.

Organized by the Mustafa Kizza Foundation, the event aims to raise funds to support veteran coach Mike Hillary Mutebi as he continues his recovery from a prolonged illness.

The headline attraction will see Friends of Mustafa Kizza and Allan Okello face a select side captained by Kenyan brothers Victor Wanyama and McDonald Mariga. The clash will be the return leg after Kizza’s team claimed a 2-1 victory in the first meeting in Nairobi.

Speaking during the launch at MTN Omondi Stadium on Friday, Kizza described Mutebi as a father figure who played a pivotal role in shaping his career.

“He was a father to us and groomed us. We call upon the football family and the public to come in big numbers and support this cause,” Kizza said.

Okello, who recently helped Young Africans S.C. win the Tanzanian Premier League title, echoed the appeal, paying tribute to Mutebi’s influence on his career.

“Coach Mike Mutebi was my mentor, my guardian and guided me in many decisions. When I heard he was ill, I knew I had to do something special. This charity match is one way of giving back,” Okello said.

The event will begin with a curtain-raiser between Salim Katumba & Friends and  TikTokers FC at 4:00 pm before the main charity match kicks off at 7:00 pm.

Fans will pay UGX 5,000 for ordinary tickets and UGX 10,000 for VIP access, with all proceeds going towards supporting Coach Mutebi and his family.
