In a thrilling showdown at the MTN Indoor Sports Arena, the KIU Titans narrowly defeated the Namuwongo Blazers by just two points, securing a 2-1 lead in their best-of-five series.

The high-stakes game, filled with intensity and drama, saw the Titans emerge victorious with a 76-74 win, bolstered by their composure in the final minutes.

Coming off a close victory on Sunday, the Titans faced a tough challenge against a resilient Blazers side.

The Blazers led by two points at halftime, 36-34, displaying their tenacity and the ability to disrupt the Titans’ rhythm.

However, the game took a dramatic turn in the final quarter, where the Titans demonstrated nerves of steel to overturn the deficit and take a slim lead.

Joel Lukoji was the standout performer for KIU, scoring a game-high 21 points, supported by strong contributions from Kasereka Tambo (15 points) and Edgar Munaba (14 points).

Their collective effort was crucial in maintaining the edge in a game that could have swung either way.

The Blazers, despite their efforts, fell short in the end. Jimmy Williams led their scoring with 17 points, followed by Peter Cheng’s impressive 15 points off the bench, and Innocent Ochera who added 13 points.

However, costly turnovers and missed opportunities, particularly in the final quarter, hindered their chances of clinching the game.

The Blazers’ star player, Joseph Chuma, who had been instrumental throughout the regular season, struggled to find his form, which significantly impacted the team’s performance.

The game was momentarily disrupted by a chaotic scene involving Blazers fans in the fourth quarter, adding to the already tense atmosphere.

Despite a valiant effort to close the gap after the interruption, the Blazers couldn’t overcome the deficit, falling just short in the end.

In the women’s division, the UCU Lady Canons claimed a crucial win in their series against the KIU Rangers, taking a 2-1 lead after a fiercely contested game.

Leading by seven points at halftime with a 29-21 advantage, the Lady Canons faced a late surge from the Rangers.

The game came down to the wire, with the Rangers narrowing the gap to just one point in the final quarter.

However, the Lady Canons held firm, securing a 52-48 victory to edge closer to advancing in the series.

This round of games showcased the high level of competition and the fierce determination of all teams involved, setting the stage for an exciting continuation of the series.
