The Uganda Seniors Women’s National Football Team, the Crested Cranes have qualified to this year’s Total Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
This after the Harambe Starlets of Kenya withdrew from the last qualifying stage which was scheduled for next month.
Crested Cranes were due to face Kenya next month between 17th-23rd February in an double-header encounter to decide who makes it to this year’s championship in Morocco.
However on Friday evening, the confederation of African Football ( CAF) announced it had received a letter from Kenyan FA about the team’s withdraw from the final qualifiers.
“We regret to inform you that we have just receive Kenya FA a correspondence informing us of their withdrawal from Women AFCON- Morocco 2022,” reads the statement in parts.
“Consequently, matches 45 and 46 are cancelled as well as the missions of all designated officials.” The statement further reads.

Crested Cranes last qualified for Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in 2000, so this will be the side’s second time to feature at the continental women finals.
The Crested Cranes had entered a training camp on Wednesday in preparation of these two games.
