KCCA FC suffered a 3-1 defeat to NEC FC in a Startimes Uganda Premier League clash at the MTN Omondi Stadium on Friday night.
The 13-time champions started brightly but failed to convert their early dominance, with Joel Sserunjogi missing a clear chance inside the opening seven minutes. NEC punished them in the 22nd minute when debutant Richard Basangwa struck to give the hosts a 1-0 halftime lead.
KCCA responded after the break, Ivan Ahimbisibwe equalising from Umar Lutalo’s assist. However, NEC regained control as Joseph Seremba curled home in the 70th minute before Basangwa completed his brace three minutes later to seal the win.
The result lifts NEC to seventh on 23 points, while KCCA remain fifth on 30 points, having won just once in their last five matches.
