Vipers SC saw their title charge slowed after being held to a 1-1 draw by BUL FC in a Uganda Premier League clash at the FUFA Technical Centre on Friday evening.

The Venoms, unbeaten in the first round, took the lead in the 31st minute when Karim Watambala volleyed home after BUL goalkeeper Tom Ikara spilled a corner. Vipers had earlier threatened through Enock Ssebagala and Usama Arafat but were denied by last-ditch defending.

BUL responded immediately after the break, with Karim Ndugwa heading in the equalizer from a corner in the 46th minute after slack defending by the visitors.

Vipers introduced several attacking changes in search of a winner, but squandered clear chances, including a missed connection by Watambala and hesitation from Arafat in front of goal. BUL also threatened on the counter but failed to capitalize.

The result extends Vipers’ winless run in Njeru to four matches. They remain top of the table with 37 points, while BUL move up to seventh on 20 points.
