Cranes Head coach Johnathan McKinstry is set to announce a tentative squad that will start preparations for the AFCON qualifiers on Thursday.
The cranes are set to continue their AFCON 2021 qualification campaign with a doubleheader tie against South Sudan next month.
Uganda last November defeated Malawi 2-0 at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole to go top of Group B after two matches.
McKinstry is expected to name some new faces in the team after the team’s training camp in Dubai last a few weeks back.
Having been called up to the training camp in Dubai, South End United’s Elvis Bwomono, Reading’s Jayden Onen, Portugal-based left-back Alex Kakuba, and Omeä’s Alexis Bbaka are expected to be included in the provisional list.
Although captain Denis Onyango and Derrick Nsibambi missed out on the Dubai training camp, the pair look set to be included when the gaffer names his squad.
Bevis Mugabi is expected to be out of the squad after suffering a dislocated shoulder in training with his club Motherwell FC last week and will be out for up to 6 weeks.
The doubleheader against South Sudan will be played on the dates of November 9 and 17 after CAF postponed them in March because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Initially, the two matches had been scheduled for March 28 and 31.
