JKL lady dolphins defended their National Basketball League title on Sunday night at Lugogo Indoor Arena with a 56-68 win against UCU Lady Cannons, coming back from loss of the first two games in the series to lift their 4th title.

Heading into the game, UCU Headcoach Nicholas Natuhereza spoke about his side being a better team and having used the two weeks 3X3 world cup break to iron out mistakes which had costed them game 3,4 and 5.

However, they didn’t look the part in this title decider, availing themselves to a 14point deficit by the end of the first quarter. Their counterparts JKL lady Dolphins, having the current, former and assistant national team captain look up to a scoreboard that read 30-42 in their favour at halftime clearly knew they had put the game to bed and cruised to the final whistle.

There were more wins than the championship to celebrate in the JKL camp, Hope Akello and Brenda Ekone finished the season as MVP and top scorer respectively. UCU’s Bridget Aber the best defender and Mercy Batamuliza of JT Lady Jaguars the best rebounder.
