Ugandan athlete Jacob Kiplimo has won the 5000m race at the Golden Spike meeting in Ostrava.
The 19-year old on Tuesday evening clocked 12:48:63 in the 5000m race, outsprinting Ethiopia’s Seleman Berega on the home straight and setting a personal best and meeting record in the process.
Kiplimo is also the 2017 IAAF World Cross Country Junior champion before the 10,000m silver at the 2018 IAAF World U20 Championship in Tampere, Finland.

In the Earlier race, another Ugandan Winnie Nanyondo finished ninth in the 1500m race that was dominated by Kenyan Faith Kipyegon.
This was Jacob Kiplimo’s first track race since 2018 and becomes the second Ugandan athlete to return with victory after Joshua Cheptegei won the 5000m race in the Diamond League.
