Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo is set to make his marathon debut at the TCS London Marathon on Sunday, April 27.
The two-time world cross-country champion and former half-marathon world record holder will be the only non British athlete among the five debutants on course.
Kiplimo’s prowess in the half marathon makes his transition to the full 42km distance exciting.
However, the move to the roads has proven challenging even for his compatriot and long time rival, Joshua Cheptegei who had a disappointing marathon debut in Valencia(2023), reminding us of the unpredictable nature of this event.
The London Marathon will test Kiplimo against a field stacked with legends includinh marathon great Eliud Kipchoge, who’s won it a record four times, reigning champion Alexander Mutiso Munyao, world half-marathon champion Sabastian Sawe, and the man of the moment, Paris Olympics champion Tamirat Tola.
