A silver medal at the Olympics can be a dream for many young athletes in Uganda, but that’s not the case for 25 year old Peruth Chemutai. In fact this means disappointment!

Chemutai bust out in tears following her second place finish at the 3,000m steeplechase final at the Paris2024 Olympics, Where Bahrain’s Winfred Yavi beat her to Gold.

Chemutai who entered the reigning Olympic Champion still believed she had a better chance to beat Yavi, who was the fastest woman this season over the distance and along her gold came an Olympic record.

It’s with this disappointment that Chumutai answered. “I won’t go there.” when asked if she would have her revenge at the World Athletics Championships 2025 in Tokyo, Japan.

Chemutai says she will skip that to prepare for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, where she believes she can reclaim her title.
