As part of their preparations for the FIBA Zone Afrobasket qualifiers, the Uganda national women’s basketball team played a friendly game today against Westmont Warriors, the ladies basketball team of Westmont College from the United States of America.
Warriors were quite a challenge for Gazelles who still had enough within them to seal off a 4point win(80-76).
Fans who made it to Lugogo Arena were treated to a bargain of a free ticket that came with watching Gazelles new Captain Jane Asinde play on Ugandan soil as the team leader and little did she dissapoint registering a double double (27pts, 12rbs).
She was in good company as fellow USA based Lydia Babirye and Abby Priscilla were all on coat today Thursday, 8th.
Vice Captain Hope Akello and Perus Nyamwenge were part of the othetnameson the roaster.
Westmont is in the country for community support purposes with Sports Outreach Ministries, a Uganda based organisation using sports to change lives of the natives.
