Gulu High School staged a remarkable comeback after their morning setback, clinching a thrilling 2-wicket victory over Masaka SS in a nail-biting contest at the Main Street Ground.

The win is a testament to the growing cricket culture and the effectiveness of the coaching at the Northern Cricket Hub.

In a match where emotions ran high, Gulu High showed resilience in their run chase.

Although Masaka SS managed to claw back with a flurry of wickets, the game went down to the wire.

In the final over, with Gulu needing six runs from six balls, a crucial misjudgment on the boundary allowed the first ball to go for a boundary, easing the pressure.

Gulu High then secured the win with three balls to spare, elevating them to third place in Group B and keeping their Super Six dreams alive in their maiden appearance at this prestigious tournament.

Group A action saw Jinja SS the defending champions continue their unbeaten run, asserting their dominance by easily dispatching Kiira College Butiki by 8 wickets

St John’s SS Mukono, meanwhile, had to dig deep to overcome Kiira College Butiki, securing a result that maintains their position in second place.

St Joseph’s College Layibi had a standout day with the bat, amassing over 300 runs across their matches.

Rubangakene Ronald was the star, with two impressive half-centuries—55 in the afternoon and an unbeaten 86 in the morning against Ntare School.

Layibi’s consistent performances keep them in the race with the Group A leaders.

In Group C, Busoga College Mwiri capitalized on their captain’s crucial toss victories, allowing them to post commanding totals.

Gerald Olipa was the standout performer, smashing 137 off 41 balls, marking the tournament’s first century against St James SS.

Earlier in the day, he fell just short of another century, scoring 97 off 41 balls against a depleted Horizon International School.

Mwiri’s dominance with the bat has propelled them to the top of Group C, with the highest team totals in the tournament so far.

Aga Khan also maintained their perfect record, winning three out of three to stay close to the table leaders.
