Uganda Martyrs High School stunned record champions Kawempe Muslim while Tooro Queens needed a late goal to edge past She Mak at the ongoing 2020/21 FUFA Women Super league played at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.
Having won their first group games, both Uganda Martyrs and Kawempe Muslim came into Tuesday’s game looking to get a better of each other so as to take early advantage atop of the group.
Gloria Namugerwa netted the lone goal of the game in the first half as Uganda Martyrs narrowly defeated Kawempe Muslim 1-0 in the early game at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru
Namugerwa’s goal came in the 23rd minutes after the Skipper beat goalie Juliet Adeke from a freekick after her teammate Nakacwa Spencer was fouled outside the box.
With the win, Uganda Martyrs head to the summit of group 1 with maximum points garnered in two games while Kawempe Muslim remain on 3 points.
In the other group 1 game , Tooro Queens needed a late goal from Nyakato Ruth to edge past She Mak 1-0.
Nyakato came from the bench to net the game’s lone goal in the 90+1 minute of the game to ensure the Queens earned their first win in the group
Having beaten She Mak, Tooro will face Kawempe Muslim, who are on Wednesday while Uganda Martyrs will battle Kampala Queens in the other game.
