The Federation of Uganda Football Associations has sanctioned Buhimba United Saints after the club failed to honour their Uganda Premier League fixture against NEC FC on May 13 at Lugogo.

According to the ruling by the FUFA Disciplinary Panel, Buhimba United Saints forfeited the match and were further docked three points from their accumulated league tally. The Hoima-based side was also fined UGX 3 million for the offence.

Already relegated from the Uganda Premier League, Buhimba remain rooted at the bottom of the table with 12 points following the latest sanctions.

On the day of the fixture, NEC FC players, accompanied by match referee Solomon Jjumba, went through the official pre-match procedures without the presence of Buhimba United Saints before a walkover was declared.

The incident came amid growing turmoil at the club. Earlier this week, the team’s head coach resigned from his role, citing several months of unpaid salary since taking charge of the side.

Reports also indicated that players refused to travel to Kampala for the NEC encounter after demanding payment of outstanding wages and allowances before fulfilling the fixture.

Despite the off-field troubles, Buhimba later travelled to Kamwenge for their away match against Mbarara City FC, although they reportedly arrived late for the game.

Buhimba United Saints are now expected to conclude their troubled campaign with a home fixture against URA FC on Friday.
