ForteBet Real stars Awards: Brenda Akone wins second consecutive award

The September ForteBet Real stars awards were held at the Route 256 in Lugogo on Tuesday morning.

The awards which are staged by the Real stars sports agency are sponsored by ForteBet and Jude Colour solutions were graced by Dr. Lawrence Muganga, vice chancellor Victoria University

This time, there were four sports disciplines Football, Cricket, Basketball and Athletics.

At event, started the awarding ceremony with the game of Cricket which had three nominees in Both Raziat Ali Shah and Juma Miyaji helped the Cricket Cranes win the ingural Africa Cup in South Africa winning the final against neighbours Tanzania

Former Patricia Timong, she helped the U-19 girls cricket team reach the U-19 world cup Qualifiers where they reached the semifinal dropping out at the expense of Rwanda.

And the award was won by Riazat Ali Shah.

In athletics, just like in cricket there were three names again in Kiplimo won gold in the Double Commonwealth, Abel Chebet and Andrew Kwemoi. The award in this category was won by Jacob Kiplimo.

In Basketball, Brenda Akone of JKL Dolphins who helped her team get to the finals, came out on top of the two finalists in the men’s National Basketball League in Tonny Drileba of the City Oilers and Ariel Okal of Namuwongo Blazers.

Lastly on the football beat, Bruno Buyanga competition from both the Sand Cranes players Ambrose Kigozi and forward Blanchar Mulamba from (Gomba and St Lawrence) to win the award. Buyanga helped St Lawrence University advance to the Pepsi University League Semi-finals scoring a hatrick against Victoria University and also scored a 76th minute goal for Buddu to storm the semi-finals of the Masaza Cup.

The next awards will be held at the beginning of next month.
