It’s another edition of the ForteBet Real Stars sports monthly awards as the organizers put out a list of athletes nominated as outstanding individuals for the month of February.
Unlike January which had fifteen athletes(15) athletes from five (5) sports disciplines, this time round football was added once again to bring the number to eighteen (18) athletes across six (6) disciplines.
The disciplines include Rugby, Badminton, Motor Sport(Rally), Athletics, Basket ball and the returnee football.
Yassin Nasser and his navigator Ali Katumba won the Mbarara rally in style and are one of the pairs in the Rally pairs category alongside Ronald Ssebuguzi and Mugambwa finished second plus Duncan Mubiru and Bongole finished third in the same rally.
In In Athletics, Jacob Kiplimo won gold at the 2023 World Cross-Country title in Australia having made 29 minutes and 17 seconds on 10km course at Mount Panorama in Bathurst.
In this category, he will compete second runner-up – bronze medalist Joshua Cheptegei in the same race and Doreen Chesang who recently won the ladies category in The Source of the Nile marathon.
In Badminton, January winner of Forte Bet award Fadilah Shamika is back again on the nominees list after clinching two of the (10) ten medals in the Uganda Junior International 2023 alongside the Husinah Kobugabe and Brain Kasirye.
In Football, Rogers Mugisa who has had couple of good performances that have helped the Uganda Hippos reach the quarterfinals of the AFCON U-20.
In the same category Patrick Katumba who was Royal Giants’ goal keeper at the concluded CECAFA U-15 Schools Championships in Tanzania to qualify for the CAF African Schools Championships.
He contributed to the team’s winning the trophy for KCCA’s Derrick Ochan, he put up excellent performances against Wakiso Giants, Kataka FC and Arua Hill SC in the Uganda Cup and Startimes Uganda Premier League.
For Basketball three time Forte bet Real star award winner Brenda Ekone will be up against fellow Gazelles small forward Jannon Otto Jones and point guard Maria Najjuma who all put up great the 2023 Afro basketball Women Zone V qualifiers.
Elsewhere in Rugby top point scorer in the Rugby league Aaron Ofoyrwoth of Heathens will be up against Kobs’ Puis Ogenda and fellow Kob – Karim Arinaitwe
The awarding ceremony will take place on Tuesday 7th March at Route 256 restaurant in Lugogo and the winner will take home a cash prize and physical award from Forte bet and Jude Colour solutions respectively.
