Road to BAL: City Oilers start Qualifier campaign with win

City Oilers Basketball Club started off their BAL Elite 16 Division East campaign with a great comeback to record a 81-76 win against Madagascar’s COSPN at Ellis Park in Johannesburg, South Africa on Tuesday evening.

Despite being behind 29-41 at halftime, the Oilers put up an buzzing comeback in the third quarter to raise 16 points only to edge it with a 46-45 score.

With the game, the Oilers looked like they were lacking the chemistry they had throughout the season but however in the third and fourth quater had great individual performances.

Elly Randriamampionona did enough to tie the score 76-76 in the fourth quarter but Petty Parish made the change as he put the Oilers back in the lead.

Dame Miller led for the Oilers putting up 26 points, Robinson Opong followed with, Parish Petty with 16 and Germaine Roebuck, 12.

On Wednesday (tomorrow), City Oilers will play against Zimbabwe’s JBC with their focus set to the semis .

Only the top three will make it to the BAL finals.
