After a couple of Match Fixing concerns from Express Football Club fans through their chairman Julius Bakunda, FUFA President Moses Magogo has revealed that investigations are ongoing to determine if there was any forms of foul play.

The game in question is one where Express FC conceded 7 goals, the biggest loss in their history without reply against Kitara FC at the Royal Park in Hoima on Saturday 21st December 2024.

With Bakunda going on to question CEO Ashiraf Miiro for offering lifts to match officials, citing concerns over fairness in games like Kitara FC and Team Mbarara City he requested FUFA to investigate the shocking loss.

Accusing goalkeeper Emmanuel Kalyowa of deliberately allowing goals and advising him to  step away from Express FC with belief that it could help protect him, as the fans are bitter and might take harmful actions against him.

In his New Year’s address held on Thursday 2nd January 2025 at the FUFA House in Mengo, Magogo admitted that they have started research on the matter;

“We don’t necessarily base investigations on how goals were scored, because even top-rated goalkeepers have conceded cheap goals,” Magogo started

Adding that; “I am not saying there was not something fishy, nor can I rule out the possibility of a clean game. Let us give our team time to come up with concrete findings.

“We sometimes investigate when concerns are raised by the public. This game is under review, and I am confident our team will provide concrete findings in due time.” He continued

“With support from CAF, FIFA, the Police, and betting houses, we’ve obtained significant information”

“As FUFA we are also establishing a collaboration with Uganda Police for specialized unit to handle such cases.”

“We call upon all stakeholders to resist, recognize, and report any signs of match manipulation.” He concluded on the matter
