Wankulukuku based Uganda Premier League side Express Football Club has on Friday morning announced Sports betting company MelBet as their new official shirt sponsor.

This was made official on Friday at Muteesa II stadium in Wankulukuku in a ceremony that was attended by the Express Football Club and MelBET like the Contry manager of Melbet Mr. Kamwesigye Andrew, Melbet Sale’s Manager Mrs. Nassuna Teopista, Melbet Digital Manager Mr. Nick Sakwa, Express FC CEO Isaac Mwesigwa and his Assistant Patricia Ayebare among others.

MelBet will replace Betway as the Red Eagles shirt sponsor starting at the start of 2022/23 season. This deal will run for one season with an option for an extension. MelBet has formerly sponsored Kyetume FC, that was recently promoted back to the top flight.

This unveiling comes at a time when the Red Eagles are trying to recover from a financial crisis that hit all the Uganda Premier League sides during Covid.

Talking to the press at the event, Melbet Country Director Mr. Andrew Kamwesigye expressed his excitement saying ;

We are excited to partner with Express FC because they’re a championship winning team, we are committed to supporting Ugandan sports and we’re just starting on a long journey.

Express blew hot and cold in the previous season, something that has led to the firing their head coach Wasswa Bbosa as reported by Club CEO Isaac Mwesigwa.

With gratitude, Express FC CEO also had a word to put out there saying:.

We are very honoured to have MELBET join us for this coming season and most certainly for many years to come.

New Jerseys and Replicas will be coming soon and I am excited to reveal that we will have the best Jersey in UPL this 2022/23 season.I request the fans to stay calm.

MELBET will appear on match day jerseys at the back below the Number and will appear on social media platforms of the redeagles for the coming season, he confirmed.

This upcoming season, Express who finished 6th on the log with 46 points after 30 matches will be hoping to better with some new additions to their team like new youngsters who were brought up to the first and their new signings.
