The Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) has announced the appointment of Evelyne Kabongera as the interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO), following the departure of its John Walusimbi Bipin, who leaves his tenure just after one year, effective February 25, 2024.

Walusimbi’s exit comes just a year after his appointment, following a strategic review by the Cricket Body’s Board that was focused on advancing cricket development in Uganda. His exit coincides with a historic period for Ugandan cricket as the Cricket Cranes prepared for their maiden ICC T20 World Cup appearance.

He was tasked with ensuring the tournament left a lasting legacy while also overseeing the Victoria Pearls’ World Cup qualification campaign.

A seasoned executive with over 15 years of experience in logistics and finance, Walusimbi brought a strategic vision to the role, focusing on increasing Uganda’s international presence and improving operational efficiency.  Before joining UCA, John Walusimbi held leadership roles at Blink Logistics and KCB Uganda.
