Diaspora: Valuable playing time for a couple of Ugandan pros abroad


There was some valuable playing times for a couple of Ugandan professional in the different football leagues and competitions across the globe.

Here is how they and their teams fared over the past weekend.

Starting off in Scotland, Sadat Anaku came off the bench for Dundee United and played 20 minutes in a match they secured their first Scottish Premiership victory by beating Aberdeen 4-0.

While Bevis Mugabi remained unused on Motherwell United bench as they lost 1-0 to Hibernian.

In England, Jordan Obita featured fulltime for Wycombe Wanderers as they secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Oxford United in the English League One.

In Sweden, Alexis Bbaka was absent from Umea’s Matchday squad as they defeated IF Sylvia in Swedish Division 1.

In Turkey, Uche Ikpeazu Mubiru featured for 15 minutes for Konyaspor Kulubu as they drew 1-all with Antalyaspor in the Turkish Sùper Lig.

In Czech Republic, Isaac Muleme featured for Viktoria Zizkov as they came from behind to draw 2-all with SK Sparta Kolin in the Czech Republic National Football League.

In USA, Steven Sserwadda remained unused on New York Red Bulls’ bench as they defeated Charlotte 2-0 to secure a playoff spot in Major League Soccer.

In the United States League, Edward Kizza played for only 9 minutes for Pittsburgh Riverhounds as they drew 1-all with Sacramento Republic FC while Mike Azira remained unused on New Mexico United bench as they drew 3-3 with San Diego Loyal.

In German, Herbert Bockhorn played all 90 minutes for 1.FC Magdeburg as they suffered a 1-0 loss to SV Sandhausen in the 2.Bundesliga.

Melvyn Lorezen featured 90 minutes for Wormatia as they secured a 1-0 victory over TuS RW Koblenz in German Regionalliga.

In Vietnam, Joseph Mpande and Moses Oloya featured for Hai Phong as they drew 1-all with Viettel in the Vietnam League 1.

Still in Vietnam, Godfrey Baba Kizito featured fulltime for Nam Dinh as they lost 2-0 to Bình Định.

In the CAF Champions League, Denis Onyango started in goal for Mamelodi Sundowns as they humiliated La Passe 7-0 in South Africa.

Khalid Aucho featured fulltime and was yellow carded for Young Africans as they drew 1-all with Al-Hilal in Tanzania.

In the CAF Confederation Cup, Ismaïl Watenga didn’t make the trip to Elgeco Plus as Marumo Gallants secured a vital 3-1 first leg victory away from home.

Both Alfred Leku and Keziron Kizito featured for 58 minutes for Zesco United as they drew goalless with Royal AM in Durban, South Africa.

In Iraq, Emmanuel Okwi made his debut for Al Zawraa as they defeated Al Sinaa 2-0.

In Azerbaijan, Kizito Luwagga was unused for Sabail FK as they claimed a 1-0 victory over Sumgayit.

In South Africa, Jamal Salim Magoola started in goal for Richards Bay and kept a cleansheet as they drew goalless with Orlando Pirates.

In Serbia, Pius Obuya played 27 minutes for Radnicki Sremska as they drew goalless with Trayal Kruševac in the Prva Liga.
