Diaspora: previewing how Ugandan players abroad will get to fare this weekend

Football continues away from our confines and many leagues are going on elsewhere around the world and some Ugandan professionals will be in action over the weekend in their respective teams.

As always, The Touchline Sport’s Edwin Waiswa takes you through how Ugandan players abroad are set to fare for their respective teams. plus the results from the games that were played yesterday.

In the neighborhood of Tanzania, Boban Ziruntusa was an unused substitute as his side Mtibwa Sugar beat Ihefu 1-0 at Sokoine Stadium on Saturday in the Tanzanian Premier League.

Zirintusa had earlier put up a great performance as Mtibwa played out to a 1-1 all draw against Simba, the game in which he netted his side’s only goal.

Nicolas Wadada’s Azam FC who started the season on a high after winning their first two league games will take on Mbeya City who sit last on the log in 18th place on Sunday at 2:00 pm.

In the Egyptian premier league, Khalid Aucho is expected to feature for his side Misr Lel Makasa as they visit table leaders Al Ahly at the Cairo International Stadium on Saturday.

Misr Lel Makasa sits seventh on the log with 36 points from 27 games played whereas Al Ahly leads with 72 points from 27 games played.

Allan Kyambadde’s El Gouna will be in action on Sunday as they take on El Entang El Harby at 6:30 pm and the former KCCA FC forward is expected to once again feature in the right wing-back role.

Striker Derrick Nsibambi is expected to return to his scoring form as his side Smouha takes on Al Masry at the Alexandria Stadium on Monday at 6:30 pm. Nsibambi who has been on fire since the restart of the league has now gone three consecutive games without seeing the back of the net.

Still in the Egyptian premier league, winger Abdul Lumala will be in action with his side Pyramids FC as they take on Haras el Hodoud on Monday at 9 pm.

In Estonia’s Meistrilliga, Edrisa Lubega ‘Torres’ will be in action with his side Paide Linnameskond as they visit table leaders Flora on Sunday at 7 PM. Paide who sits second on the table with 42 points will try hard to cut the 13-point gap between them and table leaders if they can secure a positive result from Flora who leads with 55 points.

In the Czech Republic, Isaac Muleme who has managed to find regular playing time at Viktoria Zizkov will be in action as they take on Hardec Kratove on Saturday at 5:30 pm at their home station Prosek.

Both teams haven’t lost a single match in the 2020/2021 season and have won all their three games played so far.

In the Israeli Premier League, Fahad Bayo and defender Timothy Awany will be in action with their team Ashdod FC as they take on Petach Tikva on Monday at 7 pm at the Yud-Alef Stadium while Kizito Luwagga will also feature for his side Hapoel Kfar Saba as they face off with Bnei Yehuda at the Levita Stadium on Monday 8 pm.

In Sweden, Alexis Bakka will be in action as his side Umea FC takes on Degerfors on Monday at 7 pm in the Swedish Supperetten.

Ronald Mukiibi and Isak Ssewankambo will also be in action with Ostersunds FK who face Djugardens on Sunday at 3:30pm in the Allsvenskan.

Ritah Kivumbi is expected to be in action as Mallbacken travels to Hammarby to battle out with Hammarby IF in the Swedish Elitetan game to be played on Saturday.

In the French Ligue 1, Dereck Kutesa who featured for Reims on Thursday as they beat Servette 1-0 in Europa League qualifiers is expected to return to action on Sunday evening when they face Metz in French Ligue 1.

In Scotland, Bevis Mugabi, who was sent off in Motherwell’s win over Coleraine FC In the Europa league is expected to be in the starting lineup as his side pays a visit to Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership.

In Denmark, Moses Opondo will be in action for Odense Boldkub as they take on Nordsjaelland in the Danish Super League game on Sunday. Robert Kakeeto’s AaB Aalborg will take on AC Horsens on Monday evening at the Nordjyske Arena.

In England, Ikpeazu Mubiru is yet to earn some playing time but his championship side Wycombe wanderers make a visit to Ewood Park to take on Blackburn Rovers on Saturday in the English Championship.

Left-back Elvis Bwomono will be in action for Southend FC as they play host to Carlisle in the English League Two.

In Turkey, Farouk Miya is expected to be in action as his Konyaspor starts the Turkish Super Ligue campaign with the opening day against Genclerbirligi at Ankara Eryaman Stadium on Saturday.
