Diaspora: Lubega, Mukiibi on target as Watenga impresses again – how Ugandan professional fared over the weekend


Edrisa Lubega and Ronald Mukiibi were on the scoresheet for their respective sides as league action continued over the weekend that had many Ugandan players abroad in action with their respective teams. Here is how the Ugandan players abroad fared with their respective teams.

Staring off in the Czech Republic, Edirisa Lubega netted the lone goal for his side, Pribram FC as they defeated Karviná 1-0 away from home in the Czech First League.

The goal against Karvina is Lubega’s second goal for Pribram since he joined them two months ago and now Pribram is currently second bottom with 20 points in 29 games.

In the Czech National Football League, Isaac Muleme featured full-time and was cautioned as he helped his side, Viktoria Zizkov to a 1-all draw with Líšeň. Zizkov sits eighth on the log with 27 points in 19 games.

In England, Uche Ikpeazu Mubiru started and featured full-time as his Wycombe Wanderers suffered a 2-1 loss to Cardiff City in the English Championship. Kieffer Moore netted a brace for Cardiff while Joe Jacobson netted for the Chairboys.

Wycombe is on the verge of relegation from the Skybet English championship as they sit bottom with 37 points garnered in 44 games, six below the relegation line with two games to go. Jordan Obita was an unused substitute on the bench.

In the English League Two, Elvis Bwomono featured full-time as his Southend United FC secured a 2-1 victory over Leyton Orient. Southend stays bottom on the log with 41 points in 44 games.

In Scotland, Bevis Mugabi was an unused substitute as his Motherwell FC side were eliminated from the Scottish Cup by Hibernian after a 4-2 spot-kick loss following a 2-all full-time stalemate.

In Denmark, Moses Opondo was a second-half substitute as his side, Odense Boldkub secured a 2-0 victory over Lyngby to enlighten their hopes of avoiding relegation from the Danish Superliga.

Odense now sits third on the relegation table with 33 points in 27 games, 8 above the relegation line.

Still in the Danish Superliga, Robert Kakeeto didn’t make it to the Matchday squad as his side, AaB Aalborg suffered a 1-0 loss to Horsens. AaB remain top of the relegation table with 36 points in 27 games.

In Israel, Luwagga Kizito played the full 90 and was yellow carded as his side, Hapoel Kfar Saba suffered a 1-0 loss to Maccabi Netanya in the Israeli Premier League. Hapoel Kfar have been relegated as they sit bottom of the log with 23 points in 30 games.

Still, in the Israeli Premier League, both Fahad Bayo and Timothy Awanyi were absent from the matchday squad due to Injuries as Ashdod SC and Maccabi Petah Tikva played out to a goalless stalemate.

In Turkey, Farouk Miya was an unused substitute for Konyaspor FC as they drew goalless with Hatayspor in the Turkish Superlig. Konyaspor now sits 11th on the log with 42 points in 35 games.

In Sweden, Ronald Mukiibi netted a late equaliser for Ostersunds FK as they drew 1-all with Malmö in the Swedish Allsvenskan. Ostersunds are sixth on the log, having garnered five points in 3 games.

In the USA, Mustafa Kizza started and featured for 84 minutes as he helped his side, Montreal Impact secure a 2-all draw with Nashville in the Major League Soccer. Montreal sit top of the log with four points in two games

Still in the MSL, Edward Kizza was an unused substitute as his side, New England secured a 1-0 victory over D.C. United. Brendan Hines-Ike’s own goal was enough to take New England third on the log with four points in three games.

In South Africa, Denis Onyango started in goal and conceded two as Kaizer Chiefs came from behind to hand Mamelodi Sundowns their first league loss after a 2-1 scoreline at Loftus Versfeld. Gaston Sirino broke the deadlock for Sundowns in the first half but Lebusa netted in his own net to level matters for the chiefs before substitute Dumisani Zuma netted the winner for the Amakhosi.

The Brazilians stay top of the log with 47 points in 22 games, having played two games less than their competitors.

Still in the PSL, Ismael Watenga put up an incredible performance and helped Chippa United to a goal-less stalemate with Golden Arrows.

Chippa is now just one point off the relegation line with 18 points in 24 games and play Kaizer Chiefs next.

While Moses Waiswa started and featured for 56 minutes as his Supersports United side played out to a 1-all stalemate with Black Leopards

The point takes Supersport to seventh position on the log with 36 points in 24 games and will play Maroka Swallows next.

In Tanzania, Taddeo Lwanga never made the matchday squad for his side, Simba SC as they narrowly defeated Gwabina FC 1-0 in the Vodacom Tanzanian Premier League. Lwanga was back in Uganda for a burial ceremony for his sister. Simba sits second on the log with 55 points in 23 games, having played three games less than Yanga who are on 57 points.

In Zambia, Shafik Batambuze featured for 90 minutes as his side, Kabwe Warriors lost 1-0 to Forrest Rangers in the MTN Zambian Premier League.

In Egypt, Allan Kyambadde was a second-half substitute as his side, El Gouna lost 1-0 to Aswan SC in the Egypt Cup round of 16 match.

In Congo, Joseph Ochaya featured full-time for TP Mazembe as they played out to a 2-all draw with JSK in the Congolese Linafoot. TP Mazembe sits third on the log with 47 points in 21 games, two below top-placed Maniema Union.
