What a wonderful weekend it was for Ugandan players abroad. Umar Kasumba had a hat-trick, while Bevis Mugabi and Peter Lwasa got a goal each for their respective sides – this is how Ugandan professionals fared over the weekend.

Starting off in Kenya, Umar Kasumba was in action for the Bandari Youth team as they defeated Rabai Combine 13-1 in the FKF Mombasa County League. Kasumba netted a hat-trick for the youth team. In the senior team, William Wadri played full-time but couldn’t prevent Bandari FC from losing 4-0 to Nzoia Sugar in the FKF BetKing Premier League.

Still, in the FKF, Peter Lwasa netted the lone goal as his side, Kariobangi Sharks suffered a 4-1 loss to Kakamega HomeBoys. Lwasa’s strike came in the 67th minute.

Heading to Scotland, Uganda Cranes defender Bevis Mugabi was on target for Motherwell FC as they lost 3-2 to Hibernian in their Scottish Premier League opener. Mugabi’s strike came in the 29th minute to restore his side lead.

In England, Uche Ikpeazu Mubiru featured for Middlesbrough FC as they defeated Rotherham 1-0 in a Pre-season friendly match.

Jayden Onen didn’t make it to the matchday squad as his Reading FC lost 3-1 to Crystal Palace while Elvis Bwomono was out injured as Southend United drew 2-all with Dartford FC.

In Denmark, Moses Opondo featured for the last nine minutes for Odense Boldkub as they suffered a 2-0 loss to FC Copenhagen in the Danish Super Ligue. Odense remains 5th on the log with 4 points in three games. His Ugandan counterpart, Robert Kakeeto was absent from the matchday squad as AaB Aalborg drew goalless with Silkeborg FC.

In the USA, Mustafa Kizza was introduced in the 76th minute for Mathieu Choiniere as Montreal Impact suffered a 2-1 to Inter Miami in the Major League Soccer. At New England Revolution, Edward Kizza didn’t make the matchday squad as his side came from behind to defeat New York Red Bulls 3-2 to strengthen their grip atop of the Eastern Conference log. Mike Azira was introduced in the 68th minute for Devon Sandoval as his New Mexico side drew goalless with Tacoma Defiance in the United States League.

In the Czech Republic, Isaac Muleme featured full-time and was yellow carded as his side, Viktoria Zizkov lost 2-1 to Varnsdord in the National Football League. Zizkov has now lost their opening two games.

In Portugal, Edirisa Lubega featured for the last nine minutes for Estrella da Amadora as they lost 1-0 to Penatiel in the Taca da Liga game. Edrisa Lubega has now featured in two games for his new side.

In Sweden, Isaak Ssewakambo featured as a centre back in absence of Ronald Mukiibi as Ostersunds FK drew 1-all with Hammarby in the Swedish Allsvenskan. Mukisa Kenneth played a part for Team TGF as they secured a 3-1 victory over Sandvik in the Swedish Division 2.
