Diaspora: How Ugandan professionals abroad fared over the weekend

It’s a new week that is coming after an exciting weekend in the world of football where we had William Wadri score twice against former KCCA goalie, Benjamin Ochan and Shafiq Batambuze garnering a brace of assists for his Kabwe Warriors side– here’s how Uganda players abroad fared over the weekend.

In England, Jordan Obita featured full-time while Uche Ikpeazu Mubiru was on for 85 minutes for Wycombe Wanderers as they drew goal-less with Derby County in the English Championship.

Jayden Onen started and played 90 minutes as Reading FC U23 suffered a 3-1 loss to Stoke City U23 in the Premier League 2 Division 2.

In the English league two, Elvis Bwomono featured full-time as his side, Southend United suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to Bolton Wanderers.

In Scotland, Bevis Mugabi was out with a knock as Motherwell suffered a 3-0 defeat to St.Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership.

In Denmark, Moses Opondo played full-time and helped Odense Boldkub play out to a  goalless stalement with Horsens in the Danish Super Ligue.

Still in Danish Superligue, Robert Kakeeto started and was subbed off at the hour mark as his side, AaB Aalborg were beaten by FC Midtjylland 2-0 at home.

In Turkey, Farouk Miya started and played for 64 minutes as his side, Konyaspor FC rallied from two goals down to secure a 3-2 win over Yeni Malatyaspor in the Turkish Super Ligue.

In Malta, Erisa Ssekisambu didn’t make the matchday squad as his side, Tarxien Rainbow claimed a 3-2 win over Senglea in the Maltese Premier league.

In Israel,Timothy Awanyi played full-time as Ashdod SC suffered a 2-1 loss to H. Kiryat Shmona in the Israeli Premier league. Fahad Aziz Bayo never made the matchday squad.

Luwagga Kizito started and featured full-time as he helped his Happoel Kfar Saaba side claim a 2-0 win over Kafr Qasim in the Israel State Cup.

In Algeria, Allan Okello was introduced on in the second half for Paradou AC as they claimed a 2-1 home win against Medea in the Algerian Ligue 1.

In South Africa, Moses Waiswa was an unused substitute as his side, Supersport United and Kaizer Chiefs played out to a goalless stalement in the DStv Premiership.

In Portugal,Alex Kakuba featured for 74 minutes as his Cova de Piedade side drew 1-all with Chaves In the Portuguese LigaPro.

In Morocco, Patrick Kaddu featured for 40 minutes and helped his side, Youssoufia Berrechid claimed a huge 2-1 win over Fus Rabat In the Morocco Botola.

In German, Herbert Bockhorn featured halftime as his side, VfL Bochum suffered a 1-0 defeat to Erzgebirge in Bundesliga 2.

In Ethiopia, Isaac Isinde played the entire game as his Hadiya Hossana drew goalless against Ethiopia Bunna in the BetKing Ethiopian Premier league.

In Kenya, Benjamin Ochan started in goal as his side, AFC Leopards were beaten 2-1 by Bandari FC in the BetKing Kenyan Premier league. Ugandan William Wadri scored both goals for Bandari FC

Still in the KPL, Hashim Ssempala captained his Tusker FC side to a 4-1 win Posta Rangers.

In Zambia, Shafik Batambuze started and claimed two assists as his Kabwe Warriors side drew 2-2 with Green Eagles in the Zambia Super league.
