Diaspora: Goal fest weekend for Ugandan professionals abroad

A couple of Ugandan professionals abroad found the back of the net for their respectively sides as most of the major football leagues across the globe went on over the weekend.

Musa Esenu, Deogracious Ojok, Robert Mukoghotya, William Wadri, Umar Kasumba and Brian Mululi all found the back of the net to help their sides win games over the weekend.

Here is our wrap of how most of Uganda professionals fared over the weekend.

Starting off in England, Striker Uche Ikpeazu Mubiru featured for 45 minutes as Cardiff City suffered a 2-1 loss to Hull City in the English Championship.

Jordan Obita came in the 88th minute for Garry McCleary as Wycombe Wanderers lost 2-0 to Plymouth Argyle in the English League One.

Ibra Sekajja came on for Jordan Green as his side Dulwich Hamlet lost 2-1 to Ebbsfleet United in the National League.

In Denmark, Moses Opondo featured full-time as his AS Horsens secured a 2-1 loss to Lyngby in the Danish 1st Division.

In Sweden, David Owori was absent as his side, Utsiktens lost 3-0 to Vasteras in the Swedish Superettan.

In the Swedish Allsvenskan, Ronald Mukiibi featured for 54 minutes as his side Degerfors lost 2-0 to Kalmar FF.

In USA, Steven Sserwadda featured full-time as New York Red Bulls II lost 1-0 to RGV Toros in USL.

Still in USL, Edward Kizza was unused as Memphis 901 secured a 2-1 victory over Colorado Spring.

Mike Azira was a second half substitute as New Mexico United lost 1-0 to Phoenix Rising.

In the CAF Champions League, Denis Onyango started in goal as Mamelodi Sundowns lost 2-1 to Petro da Luanda.

Joseph Ochaya was unused substitute as Pyramids drew goalless with TP Mazembe in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Taddeo Lwanga played 56 minutes as Simba SC defeated Orlando Pirates 1-0.

In the DSTV Premiership, Isma Watenga was unused substitute as Chippa United lost 1-0 to Stellenbosch while Moses Waiswa was also unused as SuperSports United secured a 1-0 victory over Kaizee Chiefs.

In Rwanda, Musa Esenu netted the winner as Rayon Sport defeated Gorilla 1-0 in Rwanda Primus League.

Robert Mukoghotya was also on target for Mukura Sport as they defeated Espoir 2-1. Nicholas Ssebwato also featured Mukura.

In Kenya, Deogracious Ojok netted in 69th minute as Tusker FC defeated Peter Lwasa’s Gor Mahia 2-0.

William Wadri and Umar Kasumba were on target as Bandari United drew 2-all with Nzoi Sugar.

In Tanzania, Brian Mululi was on target as Mtibwa Sugar defeated Dodoma Jiji 2-1. Boban Ziritunsa started on bench for Mtibwa.

In Germany, Herbert Bockhorn was unused as VFL Bochum lost 3-0 to Freiburg in Germany Bundesliga.

In Algeria, Allan Okello started on bench as his side Paradou AC secured a 2-1 victory over Medea in Algeria ligue 1.

In Zambia, Hashim Ssempala started for Kabwe Sugar as they drew 2-all with Zanaco in MTN Zambian Premier League.

Keziron Kizito featured for 60 minutes as Buildcon lost 1-0 to Kansanshi Dynamos.
