The Uganda Crested Cranes list of 23 players to the CECAFA Finals in Njeru has been released this Tuesday morning.
Before the squad was named, the Crested Cranes have been in camp for two full weeks since the end of the FUFA Women Super League Championship.
During those two weeks, the team was being revised by coach Lutalo who had initially named a 47 women squad later adding two players but that has been cut down to 23 due to different circumstances like injuries, fitness issues and in availability of players from abroad In order to come up with the final piece.
NB: All the players will stay in camp as they were initially called in order to prepare for the WAFCON tournament to take place in Morocco.
This year’s meet will run from Wednesday, June 1st, 2022 to Monday, June 13th, 2022 with Uganda playing its first Group A game on 1st June against Rwanda.

In the absence of Ruth Aturo, Shadia Nankya was named as captain of the team and she came out to express her confidence in the team saying ;
“We are ready and cannot wait to get the tournament underway. I believe we are one unit and everyone is committed towards achieving this target.”
Uganda’s will be making a back-to-back appearance at the CECAFA.
