City Oilers have made history by winning their ninth consecutive Uganda National Basketball League championship. Their remarkable feat was sealed in a 63-78 game 6 victory against the KIU Rangers at the Lugogo Indoor Arena on the night of 25th October, 2023. Cementing their legacy as the most decorated team in Ugandan basketball history.
In a thrilling 1st half that had both fans on the edge of their seats, KIU claimed it with a single point lead at 13-12. Athalf time, Oilers had an 8point lead at 25-33 and it stood at 45-60 with a quarter to spare.
Jimmy Enabu put in a extra shift for Mandy Juruni’s side with a 19pts tally and Fayed Baale with 18pts whom together with Titus Lual Odeke who scored 14pts celebrate their first winner’s medal since crossing over from UCU Canons last season.
Oilers fate was already decided as Uganda’s representatives at next year’s Basketball Africa League (BAL) but this win equally comes in handy.
