Despite a 24:10 loss to Thunderbirds at Kyadondo Rugby grounds on today, Black Pearls have been crowned champions of the Uganda Women’s Rugby Premiership title.

This is black Pearls’ fourth consecutive title but Thunderbirds can as well go home with their heads high having handed them their only loss in all those four title winning seasons.

There was more for Black Pearls to celebrate on the day, just hours before kickoff of their title winning game, their star lady Emily Lekuru made an impressive debut at her new Japanese side Hokkaido Barbarians Diana in the Pearls 10th Anniversary Cup.

“Today’s loss against Thunderbirds was painful because I last lost a league game to them in 2019. It’s also my first league loss in 4 years BUT my girls did enough to secure a 4PEAT! We’ll clean up the mess later, but for now we celebrate. Yes, I’m INSUFFERABLE!”
