The 2025 Nile Special Women’s Rugby Premiership will conclude this Saturday, May 17, with a grand finale at Kyadondo Rugby Club where all remaining three fixtures will be played in the same day.
The decision to host the final match day at a single venue all was taken Uganda Rugby Union (URU) Technical Committee and all women’s club heads.
Highlight of the day will be the
title decider between defending champions Black Pearls and closest rivals Thunderbirds. Black Pearls currently lead the table by five points but will need a win to retain the title.
Thunderbirds have been steadily closing the gap, but Black Pearls will head into this with confidence having won 25:12 when the two sides met earlier on in the season, which is also the latter’s only loss so far.
URU Executive Committee member and Women’s Representative Prossy Nakakande emphasized the significance of the occasion. “Bringing all teams together for the final match day reflects our commitment to unity and visibility for women’s rugby. This has been a competitive season, and we’re proud of the progress.”
URU Women’s Rugby Development Officer Beatrice Atim added, “Kyadondo has always been central to Uganda’s rugby story. Hosting the grand finale here provides a great platform to celebrate the players, clubs, and the Ugandan rugby community that continue to drive women’s rugby forward.”
