Falando Jones and Germaine Roebuck shine again as City Oilers book a place in the semi-finals after beating Zambia’s Matero Magic at the Elite 16 of the Basketball Africa League qualifiers, South Africa .
This was their second game at the tournament and won it by a 10 point margin with 83-73 scoreline as Jones this time round put up the most (26) and Roebuck Jr (24) respectively.
It proved to be a bright start for both side but the advantage opened the first points on board were for Jones as he put up three to push the Oilers into the lead.
But however the same force exacted on Matero Magic’s was the same replicated on the side of Oilers thus ending the first quarter level on 17-17 with couple of points from Douglas Kandulu.
In the second quarter, Monday’s charges went on to prove a point when they conquered the Matero Magic with at most help from James Okello who made sure the supply to Noth Jones and Roebuck Jr was sufficient ending with a 8-26, a 8 point lead.
The Oilers lost eventually both the third and fourth quarter 18-17 and 30-23 respectively but it wasn’t enough for the Zambia side to comeback as the game ended 83-73.
After their advancement, they face Ferroviário da Beira of Mozambique in their last group game on Thursday as they await on who is going to be their opponent in the semis.
A win at the semi-finals will take either team to the final an action that will ensure automatic qualification while a loss will leave them with a win or die match for a third place slot.
