The stage is set, and Amus College School is at the centre of Uganda’s continental football hopes.
Uganda’s representatives at the CAF African Schools Football Championship begin their campaign in Kigali today after discovering the teams standing in their way.
The Amus boys have been drawn against Somalia, South Sudan and Burundi, while the girls face hosts Rwanda, Burundi and South Sudan in the U-15 tournament.

The championship kicks off today at Kigali Pele Stadium, where Amus will seek to prove that its dominance at home can also translate onto the continental stage.
Amus earned Uganda’s tickets after sweeping the boys’ and girls’ U-15 titles at the USSSA Ball Games II championship in Gulu.
The boys defeated St Mary’s Kitende in the final, while the girls saw off St Noa Girls Zana to complete a memorable double.

Former Buddo SS head coach Richard Malinga will lead the boys’ charge, with Frank Anyau guiding the girls.
The teams arrived in Kigali with more than just expectation on their shoulders. On Sunday, they were officially flagged off at Parliament by the current Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon. Jacob Oboth Oboth.
Now the focus shifts to the pitch and for Amus, the mission is to represent Uganda with pride, compete for honours and show that the country’s next generation of footballers can stand tall among Africa’s best.
The CAF African Schools Football Championship is organised by CAF in partnership with the Motsepe Foundation.
